Using PIXresizer to resize images (page 2)

PIXresizer is a freeware imaging tool that you can download from Bluefive Software.  After downloading and installing the software, you will launch to the following screen:

Using PIXresizer is very straightforward:

1  Under the section called "1. Load Picture", click on the Load Picture button.

This will take you to a Windows file window; navigate to your file and open it.

2 Notice that your image appears at the right.  Below the image is a box called Image Info.

This information is for your reference.  It lists your original image size, the file saze, the image type, etc.

Note, however, the Rotate button, which can be used to turn a picture that was taken with the camera rotated vertically.

3 Lets resize the image.  In area 2. Select new size, we see a series of radio buttons that show percentages of our original image size.

We also see a radio button called Custom size.  The Custom Size boxes allow us to type a specific width or height.

There is also a box labeled Maintain aspect ratio.  By default this is checked, and should remain checked.  Maintain aspect ratio forces PIXresizer to maintain the original ratio of width to height.  If you uncheck this box your picture can become skewed.

4 Next we choose the file format we want to save as.

The five options listed are all potential web file formats, but JPEG and then GIF are the most common, and offer the best compression.

If you're working with pictures from a digital camera we recommend that you save in the JPEG format.

5 Finally, we save our picture.

A Windows file window will open, allowing you to save your image with a new file name.
